Introducing Google Translate for Animals Hilarious Video

Making the world's information universally accessible is a key goal for Google. Language is one of our biggest challenges so we have targeted our efforts on removing language barriers between the species. We are excited to introduce Translate for Animals, an Android application which we hope will allow us to better understand our animal friends. We've always been a pet-friendly company at Google, and we hope that Translate for Animals encourages greater interaction and understanding between animal and human.

Translate for Animals is an application for Android phones that recognises and transcribes words and phrases that are common to a species, like cats for example. To develop Translate for Animals, we worked closely with many of the world's top language synthesis teams, and with leaders in the field of animal cognitive linguistics, including senior fellows at the Bodleian Library in Oxford.

Youtube Releases auto caption for all users Today. The easiest way to Increase your videos viewership with no effort

Screen_shot_2010-03-05_at_4

YouTube made it even easier to add captions by turning on auto captions for all users. Youtube is leveraging the same Google Voice technology, we know is not perfect, (see google voice is racist). However, it will only improve as as the number videos that are indexed exponentially increases. Awesome!. As content creators, google just lowered the entry point to opening up to worldwide audience, which is great for advertisement dollars. Straight from the YouTube Biz blog:

Today, we are opening up auto-captions to all YouTube users. There will even be a "request processing" button for un-captioned videos that any video owner can click on if they want to speed up the availability of auto-captions. It will take some time to process all the available video, so here are some things to keep in mind:
  • While we plan to broaden the feature to include more languages in the months to come, currently, auto-captioning is only for videos where English is spoken.
  • Just like any speech recognition application, auto-captions require a clearly spoken audio track. Videos with background noise or a muffled voice can't be auto-captioned. President Obama's speech on the recent Chilean Earthquake is a good example of the kind of audio that works for auto-captions.
  • Auto-captions aren't perfect and just like any other transcription, the owner of the video needs to check to make sure they're accurate. In other cases, the audio file may not be good enough to generate auto-captions. But please be patient -- our speech recognition technology gets better every day.
Auto-captions should be available to everyone who's interested in using them. We're also working to provide auto-captions for all past user uploads that fit the above mentioned requirements. If you're having trouble enabling them for your video, please visit our Help Center: this article is for uploaders and this article is for viewers.

The super geniuses at Google continue to open up information to the world. By using the same Google Voice technology and the large YouTube video database, it will allow google to quickly develop the best voice recognition software on the market. Genius!

Increase your YouTube videos exposure and views 1000% by authenticaly making connections in distinct niches

GMTV has been making videos on YouTube says day two, day one YouTube was being built, day two we uploaded our first video. In the early days the market was unsaturated, so there was no need for a "marketing strategy" to increase viewership. Create a video, upload, sit back and "watch the money pile up" (c) 50 Cent. We were featured on the frontpage by simply emailing the small staff. Fast forward to 2010, YouTube is now a full blown industry, there is now more then an hour of video uploaded every second to youtube, its almost impossible to stand out. YouTube has their fancy google search algorithms that help, but unlike google search its hard to index video content. Google is working hard to improve video indexing technology, but is still not ready for prime time. So what do you do? when no one is watching that awesome video you spent blood sweat and tears creating. Our magic monkey goat formula for increasing viewership by 1000%, is fundamentally simple, its all about making genuine connections while remaining authentic to your cause.

Pre-production will make or break your video. Take the time to understand "The Why" behind your video. Ask yourself, Whats is driving you to go out and spend your own resources to create this video? Fundamentally, there has to be a strong reason why you decided to create the piece. Use that energy and driving force to know your market. If you are creating a video about Real Estate, identify the top 10 blogs in the Real Estate niche. Use free tools like Google Ad planner, technotari, delicious, tweetmeme to discover great community sites all around the interwebs. While visiting the blogs try to pay attention to the type of items they blog about, learn about the community and its members. Research  why was it that particular website started? Who is behind it? All of this information that will become useful as you produce the video, and it will make it easier to market you video. The important part here is find your audience, make sure that your content co insides with what that particular community may consider valuable. Our hillarious "Wii Bowling Championship" video is a great example of video tailored made for a particular audience, this particular video was featured in kotaku and a few other niche blogs.
After identifying the top communities, go create your awesome video. Be creative! Have fun. Try to keep the video length as short as possible, and adhere the editing to some sort of rhythm. GMTV follows a set of magical production rules for youtube and online videos but that's an elephant worthy of another post. Now that you have this awesome video, upload the video and send out the link to all the niche communities you recently discovered. Personality and authenticity must be at the core of your message. Top bloggers have their inboxes bombarded with links to content, and press releases filled hogwashed turd dirt. Keep the message length as short as possible. At this point in the game you should thoroughly understand the communities you are contacting. If you dont got back to preproduction and start over. Editors/ community leaders actually love the fact that you created excellent content that tailor fits with their audience, and will allow you to build a better relationship for future videos. They will blog about it, and their readers will share it with their friends.
The key is to be specific about the audience you target, and allowing them to be the first to exclusively watch the video. People who are not in your core audience could have an adverse effect on viral sharing.  Increase engagement by searching for the afficionados and the crazies in your niche, and create an idea that they would love.

YouTube's Redesigned Video Page Will Increase all Channels Subscriber Count, Engagement, and bring world peace

Screen_shot_2010-02-02_at_11

YouTube started beta testing a new simplified version of the video watch page. Go take a quick gander,  YouTube new video page, I'll wait. The new cleanly designed page removes most of the clutter found on the current version. The video description box which took a good percentage of the right sidebar now has been flopped right under the video player, huge win! The description box is not the only item that has now made its way to the left side, under the title you will find a Subscribe button. The placement of this button is crucial to a channels conversion ratio. YouTube is making a big play towards the subscription business model with this particular redesign. Increasing the amount of subscriptions per user will allow YouTube to easily seagway into the living room, which traditionally is more passive experience. Also, since the description box is now directly below the video, this will increase the amount of traffic that leaves YouTube, as hyperlinks are now more visible. Allowing for channels to be able to invite viewers to connect, which will allow for a better video experience as users can discover new services, websites, products, etc.

Screen_shot_2010-02-13_at_2

Another promising feature is the separation of "More videos from this channel" collection, this list is now hidden under a drop down arrow above the video player. The great minds at YouTube organized the videos horizontally, and can be quickly browsed 6 video carousel, with awesome pagination. This two punch combo will allow a partners entire video collection to be browsed form within the video watch page, that alone could have a exponential effect on the amount of videos discovered. Only time will tell how successful this new page layout could prove out in the long run. I for one can ,no wait!!!!

Screen_shot_2010-02-13_at_2

Finally the best feature of this new video page is the ability to still watch a video while actively searching at the same time. Game changer! This feature alone should make you switch, because I know your lazy here is the link to switch to the new page layout. Your thoughts on the new page?
